Mitchell Huynh (HBSc 2007, BCom 2010)

Division Director, Investors Group

Backpack to Briefcase speaker, Mitchell Huynh has always had a fascination for finance and its ability to exponentially grow wealth. After graduating from the University of Toronto, Huynh dove head first into the world of finance as a hedge fund accountant. Although strict work policies prevented him from equities trading, his exposure to the top hedge fund portfolios granted him insider knowledge of top fund management strategies. Armed with this knowledge, he became a financial advisor for one of the largest Canadian banks for several years, taking pride in having helped his many clients to achieve their financial goals.

Huynh left banking to pursue his MBA at the Schulich School of Business, specializing in financial services, to deepen and refine his knowledge of the industry. It was there that he became passionate about the issue of wealth inequality, the difference in wealth between the ultra-high net worth and the middle class, and made it his mission to empower everyday people with the knowledge and skills to reach financial freedom.

Currently, Huynh is a rising star at Investors Group and has secured a director position in record time through special exceptions granted by head office, due to his leadership prowess and advanced industry knowledge.

He is the host of two financial advice shows; Wise Guys: Finance My Life on Cogeco TV, and Smart Money, on Rogers TV, which has just been syndicated across Rogers TV Toronto due to high audience engagement and viewership.
