Classes Without Quizzes: Superheroes, scripture & sucker punches

Batman, Superman and Iron man

Wednesday, October 14, 2015
7:00 p.m. – 8:15 p.m.
Instructional Centre, Room 335

University of Toronto Mississauga

What might the Bible tell us about Iron Man and vice versa?  At this Classes Without Quizzes, Ken Derry, associate professor of historical studies and recipient of the 2013 UTM Teaching Excellence Award, reveals how pervasive religion can be in popular movies.

Take a closer look at patterns of biblical symbols in several superhero films and learn how these perspectives influence physical violence in films—you'll never look at Iron Man, Daredevil or Batman the same way again! Complimentary refreshments will be served.

Registration is closed.
