2009/2010 U-Pass and Transit

U-Pass Background
January 30, 31 and February 1st, 2007, the University of Toronto Mississauga students voted on the proposed U-Pass (universal bus pass) fee of $89.00 (including a $2.50 administrative charge). The result of that question was 83.2% in favour of a nonrefundable fee for unlimited Mississauga Transit access for the 8-month academic term. This year the U-Pass fee was increased 8% to $97.20 (including a $1.50 administrative charge) to reflect increased costs associated with the U-Pass service and to balance two previous years without an increase.
U-Pass Quick Facts
U of T Mississauga students who have registered for a full-time course load are eligible for a U-Pass. The U-Pass allows unlimited use of Mississauga Transit buses from September 1, 2009 through April 30, 2010. Eligible students ride Mississauga Transit fare-free. Students must show the bus operator their valid U-Pass card and their student ID card. Students who pay or officially defer their tuition and fees by August 18, 2009 can bring their T-Card (student ID card) to the Student Centre Presentation Room for their U-Pass as early as August 28, 2008. Students paying/deferring fees after Aug. 18 must first provide evidence to the Office of the Registrar of having paid their tuition and fees, and may pickup their U-Pass up to two working days later. Mass distribution of U-Pass cards will begin on Friday, August 28, 2009 and will end on Friday, September 11, 2009. Graduate Students should seek out their U-Pass card from the UTMAGS staff.
Who is eligible for a U-Pass?
All four of the following conditions must be true:
1. U of T Mississauga student – admitted and enrolled as a UTM undergraduate student or a graduate student formally affiliated with UTM (U-Passes are not available to St George or UTSC students, including those taking courses at UTM)
2. Full-time status* – successfully enrolled in an undergraduate full-time courseload of 3.0 or more courses between September 2009 and April 2010, not including courses for which you are wait-listed or enrolled in full-time graduate studies in 2009-10 (U-Passes are not available to part-time students in 2009-10.)
3. Registered* – made the required minimum payment to U of T through your bank before Aug. 18 or provided proof of fees payment to the Office of the Registrar or formally deferred your fees with the Office of the Registrar while awaiting financial assistance (OSAP).
4. Valid T-Card* – you must present a current, working T-Card. If you’ve been issued more than one T-Card during your time as a UT student, you must present the most recent one. If your T-Card is not working or is damaged, please visit the Office of the Registrar for a replacement – note that a T-Card replacement charge may apply.
*there may be a 24 to 48 hour delay after changes to your status before the U-Pass verification system updates your eligibility. (We’re sorry about this delay and are working to improve the system in the future.)
Mass Distribution of U-Pass for full-time undergraduate students will occur in the Student Centre
